Our Education Programs

Teaching English

Our experienced, VIT registered teachers offer personalised lessons, designed to build confidence and strengthen skills.

Primary students, we use a structured approach to teaching reading and spelling called Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP). This means we teach students how letters and sounds work together—how to sound out (decode) words when reading, and how to spell (encode) words when writing. It’s a structured approach that’s proven to work, based on the latest research known as the Science of Reading. We teach the six foundational skills that contribute to proficient reading; oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

Secondary students, we focus on developing students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, viewing, and writing. Through the study of a diverse range of texts, including literature, media, and non-fiction, students engage critically and creatively. They analyse language choices, explore cultural contexts, and refine their communication skills to effectively convey ideas and arguments.

Lesson Structure

A typical tutoring session begins with a quick brain game or warm-up activity, followed by a review of previous work or homework. New concepts or skills are then introduced, practiced through targeted exercises, and reinforced with a closing summary and assignment of future work.

To keep learning enjoyable and interactive, we use hands-on tools, games, technology, and engaging activities.

We conclude with a handover discussion with the parents..

Teaching Mathematics

Teaching a numeracy program involves building learners' confidence and skills in using mathematics in real-life situations. It starts with clear learning goals—like understanding numbers, measurement, data, and applying math to everyday tasks. We break down complex tasks into smaller, manageable steps, providing clear explanations, and monitoring student understanding to ensure lasting progress. At Together We Learn we help learners think mathematically, solve problems, and apply numeracy confidently in everyday contexts. The goal is to make math meaningful, practical, and accessible for every learner.
